Several members of the leadership in the House of Representatives are seeking to block completion of the border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
As you know, I have long been a supporter of erecting a fence along the southern border and was the first to introduce such a fence bill in the House of Representatives. To do so will impede the flow of illegal immigrants, would-be terrorists and drugs.
Two years ago, the House included the fence amendment in legislation that was signed into law. While construction of the fence has been slow, it is being built, and recently the President directed that environmental laws should be waived in order for the fence to be completed. Those from the House who oppose the President's waiver have filed a court action seeking to have the waiver overturned.
One of the leaders who opposed the border fence from the beginning, was quoted in the media as saying, "Our responsibility to be stewards of the earth cannot be thrown aside for the sake of an ill-conceived border fence."
This action in the House comes at the same time as the House leadership continues to block a House vote on a bipartisan border security bill. The Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE) is sponsored by a Republican and a Democrat and is aimed at strengthening border security and ensuring that employers verify that their workers are legal.
Congresswoman Thelma Drake of Virginia is spearheading the effort to get the required number of signatures of House members to force a vote on the SAVE Act. As of this writing, 187 House members, including me, have signed the discharge petition. It requires 218 signatures to force the leadership to bring the bill to the floor.
Another piece of legislation in the House is directed at giving one of the Democrat Presidential candidates her wish: that Americans should pay higher taxes. The candidate said that Americans don't need the tax cuts that have been enacted in the past seven years. I believe that the tax cuts have helped many in the Fifth District and across the United States and have signed onto the bill that would create a line on the federal income tax form that would allow a taxpayer to insert the amount of additional money that he or she wants to pay in taxes. The additional funds would go toward reducing the national debt.
Currently, if someone wants to give the treasury more money, he or she may write a check and do so. Our effort is to make it easier for those who feel that they are not paying enough to the IRS to pay more in taxes. If passed, this bill will amend the tax code to place a line on the IRS tax form to allow citizens to make voluntary donations to the federal government above and beyond their normal tax liability. The bill is aptly named the "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Act."

We need to contact our Representatives and demand they co-author THE SAVE ACT (H.R.4088)
Read this hidden report, as it is disturbing and will make you act:
Immigration has direct massive negative consequences on today's and yesterdays economy.
Are you now living from paycheck to paycheck, wondering how your going to feed your family, making your mortgage payment.
You need to be aware of how much Uncle Sam is secretly skimming off your taxes and diverting into government freebies
for immigrants and illegal foreign nationals.
This is a document that should disturb you, because the globalist open border, free traders do not want you to see it. This is an thoroughly researched analysis of immigration costs, that the hierarchy of the U.S. government and special interests groups do not want you to read.
Now you can read the disturbing details in the new 70-page document called “The Economic and Fiscal Impact of Immigration” by Edwin S. Rubenstein (www.eagleforum.org/sources). A Manhattan Institute adjunct academic with a mile-long scholarly resume, he has been doing financial analysis ever since he directed the studies of government waste for the Grace Commission of 1984.
