New brochure highlights county's charm, imagination

Friday, July 25, 2008 3:22 PM EDT

BLAIRS - A new brochure highlights Pittsylvania County's "southern charm and progressive imagination."

The brochure was funded by the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors with design coordination by Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and other county organizations.

It was designed by Kim Demont of Vaden & Associates Inc. in Danville, and will be distributed to tourists, newcomers, and prospective businesses.

Titled "Where Southern Charm and Progressive Imagination Live," the full-color brochure features photographs and information on a variety of local attractions, including the 1813 Clerk's Office in Chatham, Callands Clerk's Office and Courthouse, American Armoured Foundation Tank Museum, and Gretna Theatre.

It also lists area bed-and-breakfasts, campgrounds, and includes a calendar of events.

"The updated layout and design of the brochure will entice visitors to come to Pittsylvania County and experience the warmth, hospitality, and diverse opportunities offered in southern Virginia," said Laurie Moran, the chamber's president.

The chamber printed 10,000.

Copies of the new brochure are available at the chamber officers, Pittsylvania County Economic Development, and Pittsylvania County administrative offices in Chatham.

Businesses that would like copies for distribution should contact the chamber at 836-6990.

The county's last brochure was printed in 1998.
