The Brookneal Police Department assisted the Campbell County Sheriff's Office with a suspect of arson charge last Friday, Oct 1.

Officer Scott Earhart was checking the welfare of Felicia Kress, of Altavista, last Friday when she was located at 112 Mattox Street.

While checking her welfare, Brandon Walthall of Brookneal reported that Thomas Kress, the father of Felicia Kress, called his cell phone and threatened to burn his House down, according to reports.

While Officer Earhart was investigating the incident, the suspect called Walthall's phone for a second time and stated once again that he was going to burn the victim's house down.

The conversation was heard by Officer Earhart.

The suspect was charged with Threat of Arson and was transported the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Rustburg.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office and the Altavista Police Department assisted in the investigation.
