Local baby's photo appears on diaper package

If you pass through the baby aisle at Harris Teeter, you might see a familiar face on a package of baby diapers.

Kendall Porter, 1, of Blairs had her photo taken when she was about 2 months old and it's on the package of size 1, "Harris Teeter your baby" diapers.

Her photo fame started when grandmother Carol Kiker decided to enter Kendall in the Harris Teeter Baby and Toddler Photo Contest. Grandfather, Jerry Kiker, is a district manager for Harris Teeter.

Associate's children or grandchildren were selected to participate in the "yourbaby/yourtot" photo shoot.

Kendall's parents are Patricia and Mark Porter of Blairs.

The photo shoot was scheduled at Oasis Films in Pineville, N.C.

It was a morning appointment, so the family received an overnight stay near the studio.

The family also received several 8 X 10 photos of Kendall and Kendall and her grandfather and a $100 gift certificate to Harris Teeter.

Although the photo shoot was in February, the diapers with the new packaging are just making it onto the shelves.

"She loves the photo on the diapers," said Kendall's mom. "She keeps pointing at it."

When asked how you keep a 2-month-old happy during a photography session, Kendall's mom replied, "She's a very good baby."

In addition to Kendall's photo, a story about her connection to her grandfather is also on the package.

It says that Kendall and her grandfather have something in common-a strong bond with her now 5-year-old brother Mark Allen.

"She can't keep her eyes off him when he is around," says Jerry.

It's no surprise that Papa, Kendall and Mark Allen are together often.

"Kendall fills Jerry's world with happiness and love," says the story on the diapers.
