Emily Barksdale, of Altavista, pets Annie after reading a story to her on a recent Thursday afternoon at the Staunton River Memorial Library. Annie is at the library every Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. to hear stories as part of the Paws to Read program. With Annie and Emily is Nan Carmack, director of the Campbell County Public Library System and the dog's owner. The reading program is open to any child. Sign-up is not required.
