A Campbell County Circuit Court grand jury indicted two area people on abuse charges on Monday, according to the Virginia Judicial System website.
A former Campbell County teacher was indicted on charges related to allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Kathleen Cawthorne, 32, of 10 Clearview Circle, Rustburg, was a teacher at William Campbell Combined School when the crimes were alleged to have happened in March. She was arrested and charged in April.
Cawthorne was indicted on one count of indecent liberties with a child, one count of sexual offense with a minor by computer and two counts of the use of a computer to solicit minors.
She is set for a bench trial on July 18.
Lewis Michael Hunt Jr., 33, of Gretna, was indicted on 12 charges related to allegedly abusing children in Campbell County.
Hunt allegedly abused children that he was transporting to and from a mental health clinic in Campbell County.
Hunt was employed by a Pittsylvania County transport service and was transporting the children as part of his duties.
Hunt was arrested on March 15.
He was indicted on 11 counts of indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and one count of indecent liberties with a child.
According to the Campbell County Commonwealth’s Attorney office, Hunt is set for jury trial on Nov. 8.
