Hurt police, along with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, continue to investigate a death in the town.
As of Tuesday morning, police are saying hardly anything about the case.
An Oct. 12 news release from the sheriff’s office said on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 10:38 a.m., the county’s 911 Center got a call about a possible death investigation at 313 School Road in Hurt. Hurt police responded, confirmed the death and called sheriff’s office investigators.
The Friday news release said the death was under investigation pending an autopsy report from the medical examiner.
“We’re doing a thorough investigation of the evidence to learn the truth and facts of the situation,” Hurt Police Chief Ron Rowland said Tuesday. “I don’t want to elaborate on anything.”
Police have not said if the deceased was a man or woman, the age or a possible reason for the death.
Rowland did say, “I don’t think anybody has anything to fear. It’s an isolated event.”
