Chris Roy Layne, age 48, of 4229 Allen Creek Road, Gretna, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at his residence.
Born Oct. 26, 1963, in Halifax, he was a son of Deroy and Becky Layne of Gretna.
He was predeceased by a sister, Lisa Layne.
He was a member of Straightstone Baptist Church and a former truck driver for Pepsi. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and caring for his family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Terri Layne of the residence; one son, Nick Layne and fiancé Laura Crews of Gretna; one stepdaughter, Chasity Eastridge of the residence; two sisters, Carol Jane Grant of Gretna and Nancy Lance of Altavista; and one grandchild, Brooklyn Layne.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Straightstone Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul Woodward. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
