Community Calendar May 22 Church News Beale Memorial Presbyterian Looking Back 30 Years Ago Appomattox County Waste and Recycling Center Let's talk about composting Appomattox. As The Page Turns The Appomattox County Library System will start our Summer Reading Program on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at both branches from 9:30am to 1:00pm. We will give out balloons, plastic book bags, and bookmarkers just for signing up. There will be two programs "Be Creative @ Your Library" from patrons up through 8 years of age, and "Express Yourself @ Your Library" for patrons 9 years of age up through high school. We will be featuring four reading groups, special activities, guests, craft projects, story times and a chance for patrons to earn prizes as they read. AWAG The American Humane Association created Be Kind to Animals Week in 1915 to celebrate the unique bond between people and animals. This year, Be Kind to Animals Week was celebrated on May 3-9. CVCC Focus Congratulations Shakia and Braxton! Happiness is 4-H What do you think of, when you think of 4-H? Animals? Agriculture? Well, many still do, and on a recent day in May, many youth got a real education in animals and agriculture during the 2009 Farm Tour ,organized by the Appomattox and Campbell County Farm Bureau Young Farmers. This educational opportunity was held at 7 Oaks Dairy in Rustburg, and attended by students from Leesville Elementary, Appomattox Christian Academy, Cornerstone Christian Academy, and even a large group of homeschoolers.
