Sure wish Altavista had something to offer the youth of my era... So Glad to see they have things in place now... I left Altavista because of my own shame.. I was not a model citizen.. though I never meant to be other than that... I somehow managed to mingle with ...not . the wrong crowd..just the wrong crowd at the wrong time....and so it goes.. BUT !!! so it goes for so many young people still ! and ever stronger today !! I have learned and grown as well I should have .. being 48 yrs.old now.. kids of my own and such.. kk.. so much for my griefs about my troubles.. for I now know where they lay.. A working Mother.. a father trying to run his own business.. HEY !!! caught in the gap... a young kid with a creative mind and no where with accessibility to apply my creativeness. My English Teacher Mrs. Blanks,, may read this so I am trying hard to spell correctly... Bless Her Heart.. a gr8 woman... I will never forget her... I place no blame on my Parents for they did what they did to place a roof over my head according to the times...God Bless the insight they both had to venture out on their on.. and not get stuck in a world that would not let them live to ther potential.... they were brave.. I am proud of them, emmencly..is that correct spelling Mrs. Blanks. ?? lol... To all the folk's of Altavista, It is a great town to grow up in, but as all places .. You.. as parents need to stay in your childrens face...as much as they hate that.. they will love you for it in the end.... I came from a wrecked torn home.. felt the neglect of a mother and father at times.. but in the end I love them both and miss them dearly..and cry out to you younger Altavistians... Love your Kids.. be involved..and if you cant be.. let them be involved. the community will surely help them......,..And by-the-way.... Church is the backbone that kept me from going off the deep end.. won't kill ya to get the word into your young'uns at an early age.. for they will leave the nest.. and most likely they won't fly far the 1st time...dont let the older birds be a hinderance on your younger ones.... Just some thoughts from a friend of Altavista.. Glady's.... Hellbend....etc... Gary

Hi All, I am a native of Pittsylvania County. I usually come back every fall to visit with my family but I think I will wait until Spring to come back this year. My sister Colleen Dalton passed away in March and I came back. My oldest son Tommy passed away June 10th. I went back to North Carolna at that time. It has been very hard on me. I want to see everyone so much but think it would be better if I wait awhile. I'd love to get an email from anyone that knows me and wants to send me one. Thank You all!!
