N.C. man killed in Danville shooting

DANVILLE — A 34-year-old North Carolina man was shot and killed on the 200 block of First Street in Danville early Friday morning.

Merrill Miguell Baker of Forest City, N.C. died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Danville Police Department.

Police officers found Baker after residents reported shots fired at 2:43 a.m.

Danville Life Saving Crew pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Baker’s body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy.

Police are investigating the shooting.
