Chatham's Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. along Main Street.
Mayor Joe Rogers will lead the holiday event as grand marshal.
Chatham Volunteer Fire Department sponsors the annual parade.
Participants do not need to register, but should line up on Hurt Street next to Old Dutch supermarket beginning at 9 a.m.
Parade entries are asked not to assemble in the Old Dutch parking lot, said organizer Jacob Coles.
In case of rain, the parade will be held Dec. 10 at 11 a.m.
For more information, email Coles at [email protected] or call 250-1634.
The parade is among several holiday events planned in Chatham this weekend.
Christmas in Historic Chatham will begin Thursday, Dec.1, at 6:30 p.m. with a program on Chatham in the 1940s.
The event, which is free, will be held at the Chatham train station on Whitehead and Depot streets and features refreshments, big band and other music of the era, and a multi-media exhibit.
The program is being sponsored by Chatham First with help from the Pittsylvania County Public Library and the Pittsylvania Historical Society.
The holiday celebration will continue with Chatham's traditional lantern-lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. on the courthouse steps.
The Chatham Concert Series will round out the festivities with a Victorian Christmas concert featuring Canadian mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Sadej and the Rainier Trio Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Chatham First's new 13-month calendar, "Celebrating Chatham," will be sold at all the Christmas in Chatham events.
Proceeds from calendar sales will help fund a children's playground at Frances Hurt Park.
