SUTHERLIN — Danny Reed Tate, 56, of 1492 Slayton Road, Sutherlin, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at his residence.
Born July 30, 1956, in Danville, he was the son of Hazel Peek Tate and the late Preston Aubrey Tate, Sr.
He was married to Bobbie Sandling Tate, who survives of the residence.
Danny was a member of Kentuck Baptist Church, Ringgold, and a life time member of the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the American Red Cross, a member of CERT and the Ruritan Club. He was employed as a dietary manager for Hughes Center for Exceptional Children.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Tate Hudson and husband, Jim of Providence, N.C.; his brothers, Preston Aubrey Tate, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Sutherlin, Dr. Frank Tate and wife, Kathy of Ringgold, and his twin brother, Donnie Tate and wife, Janet of Danville. In addition, he is survived by his step-grandchildren, Austin Hudson and Abby Hudson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Kentuck Baptist Church, 1845 Kentuck Church Road, Ringgold, with Rev. Bruce Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, and at other times will be at the residence and also at the residence of his mother, 1441 Old Quarry Road, Ringgold.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorials be made to the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, 3880 Tom Fork Road, Ringgold, Va. 24586, The American Red Cross, 2276 Franklin Tpke., Danville, Va. 24540 or to the Kentuck Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 1845 Kentuck Church Road, Ringgold , Va. 24586.
