Mr. Thomas Thompson, 73, of 1856 Callands Road, Chatham, departed this life Sunday night, March 17, 2013, at Avante of Roanoke.
Born April 11, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Harry Thompson and Mary Lipford Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Thompson.
He was last employed as a mechanic at Lorillard Tobacco Company, Danville.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Veanus Thompson of the residence; four sons, Toney Thompson (Veronica) of Ernul, North Carolina, Casey Thompson, Al Covington (Elaine) and Bryant Covington, all of Danville; three daughters, Phyllis Saunders of Carrollton, Melissa Thompson and Tami Thompson, both of Danville; one brother, Danny Thompson of Danville; one sister, Irene Thompson of Chatham; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Joan Tarpley-Robinson, officiating and Minister Larry Daye, eulogist. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, March 20, from 4-7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home with the family being present from 6-7 p.m.
