I am responding to Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney David N. Grimes’ letter to the editor that was critical of Ms. Shelton.

This week I was looking up some data about Pittsylvania County on the Internet. One of the sites returned on my search was that of the Pittsylvania County Economic Development Department.

While in Danville, Vice President Joe Biden was careful to weave falsehoods into his political patter and dropped a few lines to continue the Democrat objectives of fomenting racial and class polarization.

Throughout my many years I have known many atheists.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report concluded that Virginia would face “steep hurdles” if it removes the moratorium on uranium mining.

I am sorry, Mr. Marvin Oakes, (letter published Aug. 8) that I must disagree greatly with what you say. You failed to research your assertions for accuracy before passing them on.

In response to your letter to the editor, “Hurt Lacks Political Courage,” posted Aug. 1, 2012, I can only surmise that the writer has drunk the liberal Kool-Aid so prevalent in Charlottesville that he has forgotten what conservatism is all about.

Members of the Board of Supervisors receive many concerns and requests from citizens. Some are easy to fix with a phone call or visit; some require a higher level of research and hopefully an amicable solution.

I have read a lot of negative remarks in the papers about Pittsylvania County Schools Superintendent James McDaniel. A remark that I read recently prompted me to write this letter.

How much government grant money did James Holmes use to purchase guns and ammunition to kill and wound all those people?

In his first inaugural address, Thomas Jefferson called for progressive taxation.

Genesis 1: 26,27. He made them, male and female and blessed them and said be fruitful and multiply. And Adam called his wife Eve, not Steve. Genesis 3:20. Also read Leviticus 18:22.

I want to recognize and thank Ross Johnson and his employees at Ross Electric Company on Main Street in Gretna.

We write this letter saying how proud we are to be American citizens, and for what this country was built on — with Christian leadership, with justice, equality, freedom and liberty for all.

July was a busy month for the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors.

As a former resident of Pittsylvania County (Gretna) and current resident of Albemarle County (Charlottesville), I’m writing to express my dismay regarding the highly partisan and ineffective way that Robert Hurt has represented the 5th Congressional District during his first term.

On July 9, a citizens’ forum was held in Chatham to gather input on uranium mining and milling in Pittsylvania County.

As I travel across the 5th District, I talk with small business owners who have sustained our local communities for generations.

The last Virginia General Assembly session generated substantial discussion about the budget and some controversial social issues.

It seems that the saga of the Chatham Elementary School graces the pages of the Star-Tribune on a weekly basis now.

We must understand what we are up against.
