The Campbell County Heritage Festival Committee, in cooperation with the Campbell County Recreation Department, will host the fourth annual Campbell County Heritage Festival in August.
The one-day event will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at William Campbell Combined School, adjacent to the Community Park, in Naruna from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Admission is $5 per person, with children ages 12 and under admitted free.
All proceeds from the event will be applied to the development of the Community Park.
Over the past three years, thousands of spectators from various regions of Virginia have visited the event and experienced the cultural significance of rural Campbell County’s past generations.
Created to honor the area’s rich heritage, this festival will have educational and historical demonstrations, skilled crafters, food vendors, children’s activities, animal events/exhibits and live musical entertainment.
Trick mule shows and mule jumping, antique tractors, a quilt show, basketweaving demonstrations, clogging, blacksmithing, tobacco tying, cider making and numerous other historical activities will be offered onsite throughout the day.
A featured attraction this year will be the Virginia Sesquicentennial of the Civil War Commission’s Civil War 150 HistoryMobile.
The expandable 78-foot tractor-trailer contains a high-tech experience detailing Virginia’s incomparable place in history.
The HistoryMobile draws together stories from all over Virginia and uses state-of-the-art technology and immersive exhibit spaces to present individual stories of the Civil War and emancipation from the viewpoints of those who experienced it—young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians.
