Ralph Lee Adams, 64 of 8207 Hat Creek Road, Brookneal died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Mr. Adams was born April 25, 1948 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Doris Brumfield Adams of Gretna and the late James Adams. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Director. Following his retirement he worked at Home Depot. He was a Purple Heart Army Veteran of Vietnam; a member of American Legion Post 16 as well as a Life Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Mr. Adams favorite past time was being with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Faye Shipp Adams of the residence; one son, Tracey Adams and his wife, Jamie of Lynchburg; one daughter, Rhonda Adams Smith and her husband Bill of Greensboro, NC; four grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Jared Smith, Alexis Adams, and Meghan Adams; and brothers and sisters, Margaret Reynolds, Judy King, Frank Dolan, Wayne Dolan, Bennie Dolan, and Teenie Dolan.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Shelby Royal. Burial with Military Honors by the Virginia National Honor Guard followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m.Monday, Aug. 27, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
