Geraldine (Jean) Stevens Guthrie, 87, of L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Nathalie, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at The Oaks of Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Robert Andrew Guthrie Sr.
Mrs. Guthrie was born in Campbell County, Feb. 9, 1925, the daughter of the late Andrew Burke Stevens and Flossie Roark Stevens. She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church.
She is survived by, one son, Bobby Guthrie (Gayle) of Nathalie; one daughter, Pam Anouilh (Rod) of Durham, NC; three grandchildren, Robbie Guthrie of Kernersville, NC, Sherri Leitch (Danny) of Winston-Salem, NC, Katelyn Guthrie of Nathalie; one great grandchild, Maelyn Leitch. She was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Guthrie.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30-8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service and at the residence of Bobby and Gayle Guthrie other times.
Memorials may be made to the North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department or the Hospice of the Hills.
