The 2011 Heart of Virginia (HOV) Thunder U18 Boys team was recently crowned the champions at the Dynamo Commonwealth Classic tournament held in Mechanicsville in November. They joined five other Heart of Virginia Soccer Club teams who also participated, with three of these teams placing in first or second. The U18 Boys team beat out five other well-established Virginia travel soccer clubs, including division rivals FYSA from Fluvanna County and Greene FC, to earn its third championship in the last three seasons.

On Saturday, November 5th, the Appomattox youth varsity football team won the Central Virginia Championship game. No Appomattox youth varsity team has won a championship title since 1977. Saturday's 34-14 victory over Rustburg wrapped up an undefeated season for the Raiders (9-0). The team is led by head coach Luke Paulette, assistant head coach Dickie Kelso, and assistant coaches Vince Pannell, Curtis Pearson, Brian Horne, and Tony Mann. The Appomattox youth varsity football team includes the following players (listed in order by jersey number): Jaleel Ugdah, Damon Patterson, Aaron Mayes, Phillip Fleshman, DeShawn Thomas, Harrison Pearson, Tyrese Chambers, Jake Morgan, Marquise Megginson, DeShay Wilson, Tyrese Humbles, Arthur Wheeler, Drew Man, Devon Graves, Brandon White, Kashone Richburg, Cameron Harris, Chad Cantrell, Christian Thompson, Carter Jamerson, Ryan Jackson, Luke Horne, Daniel Baldwin, Austin Pannell, Ryan Sayre, Josh Dickerson, Darron Goode, Des Megginson, and Marion Barksdale.
